All About Me

Hi! I am Jonathan Schoolcraft. I am currently in my seventh year teaching math. I spent the first five years in high school, and took the dive into middle school in my sixth year. Then I decided to return to high school for my seventh year. I first started teaching in 2011 as part of the Teach For America corps in Mississippi. At the end of the school year, I decided to leave the school and return to Tennessee where I worked as a program counselor for Upward Bound, a federally funded program that encourages low-income students to attend and graduate from college. I stayed with this job for a year, and I liked parts of it, but I felt that my true passion was back in the classroom. Thankfully the Lord provided a way for me to fulfill my dreams of being a high school math teacher again.

So, in the fall of 2013, I returned to the classroom, and I have never looked back since. Once I returned to the classroom as a teacher, I also returned as a student, where I enrolled in the master's program at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee to earn my master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Mathematics Education, where I graduated in December 2015.

I am currently at a suburban high school in east Tennessee, and the 2018-2019 school year will be my first year there. I taught Algebra II and Geometry at a rural high school in east Tennessee from 2013-2017. Then I taught Algebra I and Pre-Algebra at an urban middle school in 2017-2018. When I am not at school or at school activities, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dog! I also really enjoy traveling and eating multiple kinds of foods!
